About Gangundra Mandapam

Tiruchanur, 21 November 2017: The one and a half century old, Gangundra Mandapam holds the privilege of being the halting and Naivedyam offering place of Goddess Padmavathi Devi at Tiruchanoor during annual brahmotsavams.

Sri S Venkataranga Iyengar, an ardent devotee of Ammavaru, constructed this Mandapam in the year 1868 in front of Padma Sarovaram in Tiruchanoor. He worked as Tahasildar in British Government and later in various capacities in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.

As a token of his devotion to Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavathi Devi, he constructed this structure with utmost devotion. Since then, his successors have been continuing the legacy of offering special Harati to Goddess during vahana seva.

Every day during the Vahanam procession, the Goddess takes rests in this Mandapam for a while. Naivedyam is also offered to the deity during this short halt period.
